Melissa and Mitchell chose the beautiful Pillar and Post in Niagara on the Lake to share their day with loved ones. While my lovely assistant Nadia documented Mitchell and his groomsmen getting ready, I arrived at Melissa’s suite. There was an overall calmness in the room just tinged with excitement for the day. This talented bride not only did her own hair, but also styled her bridesmaids. She showed me the lovely hair piece she would be adding for the reception then the comb that used to belong to her grandfather. On this delicate comb was a beautiful pattern – the same pattern she had tattooed on her thigh so that even though he couldn’t be there to walk her down the aisle, he would still be there beside her. The moment still gives me goosebumps. Her girls looked on as her mom helped her into her stunning wedding dress.
Mitchell patiently waited in the library of the Pillar and Post for Melissa to arrive for their First Look. Seeing each other for the first time that day, they embraced and chatted for a few minutes. He showed her the spot in his beard that he clipped just a little too short and the photo of his own grandfather that he carried in his jacket pocket. After some quick portraits outside in the chilly January weather, we head back inside for the ceremony. This beautiful ceremony officiated by Sheldon Kofsky was focused around love and family. Their moms each held a ring and were given a rose from the couple as a way to thank them for their love and support. A sweet reading in French by her uncle blessed the happy duo before their said their vows. And their family wouldn’t be complete without their sweet pup Nemo who made a quick pop in during the family portraits.
The reception room looked absolutely amazing and after some heartfelt speeches it was time to hit the dance floor. In a moment of pure joy, Melissa sang through their first dance while Mitchell held her close.
It was such an incredible day I am beyond thankful to have been a part of. Weddings rooted deep in family and connection fill me with joy. Congrats again Melissa and Mitchell! Wishing you both a lifetime of the love and happiness you share!
